Arun Katyal (Siddharth Malhotra) joins the Yodha Task Force, following in the footsteps of his late father, Surendra Katyal (Ronit Roy). During the Amritsar aeroplane hijacking, Arun’s crucial mission results in the tragic death of a passenger, leading to the disbandment of the Yodha Task Force due to his efforts. However, there is suspicion of a conspiracy to frame him for the hijack, orchestrated by his former colleagues and the government to avenge the disbandment of the Task Force. Eventually, we uncover everything.
Yodha Movie Review: Script Analysis
The story of Siddharth Malhotra’s action thriller film is written by Sagar Ambre. The initial 30 minutes may feel a bit disjointed, as events don’t seem to connect. However, Siddharth’s entry scene is filled with adrenaline-pumping action, giving hope for more such action in the future. Even the Amritsar hijack begins with Arun already on the mission, leaving us clueless about how the hijacking occurred. Consequently, it raises concerns about the coherence of the film moving forward. Thankfully, that’s not the case.
As soon as the Delhi-London hijack is revealed, the story picks up pace. Arun’s transformation from confusion to alertness, amidst the reactions and suspicions of the flight crew and passengers, elevates the tension in the story. The uncertainty surrounding Arun’s intentions—whether he’s a villain or the hero shown in the first 30 minutes—keeps you engaged. Siddharth Malhotra’s film introduces not just one but several twists every 20 minutes. While some might be predictable, the excitement lies in seeing how Arun saves people both in the air and on the ground from this chaos.
The film’s action director, Craig Macrae, crafts engaging action scenes for our delight. He meticulously choreographs the fight sequences, providing us with ample entertainment. One of my favourite scenes in Yodha is when the plane rotates 360 degrees. You can’t help but be amazed by the splendid camerawork and execution. Another exceptional moment is the scene in the cockpit between Disha Patani and Siddharth Malhotra, adding another layer of excitement.

Siddharth Malhotra always looks captivating in uniform. Siddharth does a fantastic job portraying Arun Katyal with unbelievable passion, courage, and charisma. His performance shines, especially in entertaining action scenes. Raashii Khanna initially impresses as Priyanka Katyal, but her character fades as the story progresses. Nonetheless, she does justice to whatever is expected of her.
Disha Patani plays a pivotal role in the film. Anything I say might spoil it, but these are the characters that truly suit her. Sunny Hinduja is another actor who has given a promising performance.

Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha have assembled a team for Yodha, which, despite some flaws, presents an intriguing story. It’s surprising why none of them paid attention to the disjointed nature of the story in the first 30 minutes. However, once the second hijack comes into play, they often succeed in immersing us in the chaos both on the plane and throughout the film. While some twists are foolish, they are still entertaining.
There is one romantic song and two background tracks in Yodha; not overloading the film with songs is a wise decision by the producers. With action sequences and an engaging storyline, the film has enough to keep the audience glued to their seats.

Overall, the exciting plot twist, compelling characters, and captivating action sequences make for an overall enjoyable experience. Sidharth Malhotra’s action adventure feels like an air trip. Although the takeoff may not be smooth, it draws you in as the journey progresses. Despite some twists and turns in the story, ultimately, you’ll be glad you took this exciting journey.
