Parasuram Petla’s family star movie, Vijay, and Mrunal have teamed up for the first time. Supported by talented artists like Abhinay, Vasuki, Rohini Hattangadi, and Ravi Babu, this film also features a special role by Divyansha Kaushik.
Vijay’s Govardhan Rao, despite being the youngest brother, takes the responsibility of managing his family upon himself. He keeps a close eye on the family’s finances, but when Indu, played by Mrunal, rents a part of his house, his life takes a turn.
Family Star Movie box office collection day 1
Family Star Movie box office collection day 1 seems concerning, with the Telugu romantic drama starting off slowly at the ticket window. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Vijay Deverakonda-Mrunal Thakur-starrer earned ₹5.75 crore nationwide. Family Star, which was also released in a Tamil-dubbed version, received mixed reviews and had a modest opening. It failed to touch the 50% occupancy mark throughout the day. This is Vijay’s lowest opening in recent years.
His previous releases had relatively better figures: Liger earned ₹15.95 crore, Dear Comrade earned ₹11.90 crore, and World Famous Lover earned ₹7 crore. Family Star, which was pulled out of competition to save itself from the previous Sankranti release, will now hope to salvage its chances of success in the next two days.
This film is crucial for Vijay Deverakonda, as he hasn’t had a hit since Taxiwaala in 2018. While most of his films have had a healthy start due to his fan following, the collections haven’t been as good. The pre-release hype hasn’t translated into collections.
This is also the first film for Mrunal Thakur alongside Vijay after her successful Telugu releases, Nani’s Hi Nanna and Dulquer Salmaan-starrer romantic drama Mahanati.
