At the launch of the trailer for “Animal,” Ranbir Kapoor revealed the inspiration behind his intense character, connecting it to the role played by his late father, Rishi Kapoor.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor, during the trailer launch event on Thursday for his upcoming action thriller film “Animal,” disclosed that his intense role in the movie reminded him of his departed father, Rishi Kapoor. He revealed that Bobby, the character he plays, was a reference to the relentless lead role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film for him.
What did Ranbir Kapoor say?
During the trailer launch event in New Delhi, Ranbir remembered his late father, actor Rishi Kapoor, saying, “Whenever encountering Sandeep Reddy Vanga, I consistently urged him to provide me with a context. This experience is entirely novel, resonating with an unparalleled sensation. Subconsciously, it triggers reflections of my father, reminiscent of his emotive and forceful communication style, portraying a blend of deep emotion and assertiveness that is truly distinctive”
Both Rishi and Ranbir have mentioned that they weren’t the best of friends as father and son, and their relationship was a disciplined one. They had worked together in Anurag Kashyap’s 2013 police comedy film “Besharam,” in which Ranbir’s mother, Neetu Kapoor, also starred. Rishi died of cancer in 2020.

In the trailer, Ranbir appears in a completely intense avatar, expressing passionate love for his father. The 3-minute 32-second trailer hints that due to a violent upbringing at a young age, Ranbir’s character has become intense. His character is protective and passionate about his father’s love, intimidating anyone who comes in the way of his love for his father.
The film’s star cast, including Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bobby Deol, along with producer Bhushan Kumar and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, attended the trailer launch in Delhi, dressed in black outfits.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, “Animal” also features Anil Kapoor in a prominent role. The film tells the story of a father-son relationship, portrayed by Anil and Ranbir Kapoor.
Rashmika Mandanna plays Ranbir’s love interest, while Bobby Deol takes on the role of the antagonist, showcasing a stylish but dangerous presence in the trailer.
Animal is set to release in cinemas on December 1 and will be available in five languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The upcoming film Animal will face tough competition in Bollywood with Vicky Kaushal’s film Sam Bahadur.
