Amitabh Bachchan’s Girlfriends and Affairs
1. The most popular Indian actor has had some interesting love stories. Amitabh worked in several films with Praveen Bobby, sparking rumors of a romantic involvement.
2. At one point, he also had a brief affair with the glamorous actress Zeenat Aman. There were speculations about Zeenat’s relationships with Mazhar Khan and Sanjay Khan, which might have contributed to the short-lived nature of their affair.
3. Amitabh’s most prominent affair was with the veteran actress Rekha. This remained one of Bollywood’s most controversial and talked-about cases. It’s controversial for two reasons: Firstly, because Amitabh Bachchan was already married at that time, and secondly, because he never officially accepted this relationship, although his colleagues acknowledged it. What’s surprising is that Rekha has, on several occasions, expressed her feelings for Mr. Bachchan. In fact, once his wife invited Rekha for lunch and assured her that she would never leave her husband.
4. Amitabh Bachchan was smitten by the beauty of Jaya Bhaduri. He first saw her picture on the cover of a magazine and thought she was an ideal woman for a wife. He found in her the right mix of traditional and modern qualities. Later, he got the opportunity to work with her in the film “Guddi.” While excited, Amitabh also felt anxious because Jaya was already an established actress by that time. Working together in multiple films brought them closer, and they eventually fell in love. They got married in 1973.
Amitabh Bachchan Superstardom
During the year 1975, Amitabh worked on several genres of films. He was already a popular face in Bollywood, but 1975 brought fortune for generations to come. In that year, the blockbuster ‘Deewar’ and the record-breaking ‘Sholay’ were released.
The actor established his dominance in the film industry during the 1970s and 1980s. BBC India even dubbed ‘Sholay’ as the “film of the millennium.” In 1976, the theatrical ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ was also released, another hit.
Amitabh received his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor for ‘Amar, Akbar, Anthony’ in 1977. One after another, the star delivered hits like ‘Parvarish,’ ‘Khoon Pasina,’ ‘Adalat,’ ‘Don,’ ‘Trishul,’ ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar,’ and many more, making a significant mark in the film industry.
